Aussie Miracle Moist Conditioner

When I bought a travel size bottle of the matching shampoo, I also bought a bottle of the Aussie Miracle Moist Conditioner. I bought my bottles from Boots and a full 250ml size bottle of the conditioner will set you back roughly £4.49. Boots do often have offers on hair care though so be sure to look out for that if you like this brand.

I am terrible for washing my hair every day, blow drying and usually straightening it as well. Due to all of this, my hair gets in terrible condition and the ends look split and broken quite often. Not having my hair cut enough adds to this as well though. However, I do like my hair to look as nice as possible even without having it cut and I’ve found that a good shampoo and conditioner can really help how it looks. This particular conditioner states that it is for dry and damaged hair and also hair that is a bit unhappy – which my hair definitely is at the minute.

The bottle is white with a dark purple lid – colours which are on all Aussie products that I have seen. The bottle has on it a mix of light blue and purple text as well as the Aussie logo which is in a large block of purple. There is a quite large paragraph underneath the product name which explains what the conditioner does and why it is good for hair. In this case, the Australian Macadamia Nut Oil is what helps to put moisture back into dry hair.

As I had already used the shampoo by the time I used the conditioner, I was already expecting the light orange coloured liquid. The conditioner is quite thick in consistency which is something I like in a conditioner. I don’t feel as though runnier liquids work as well on hair and they definitely don’t absorb into damaged hair as well. Matching the colour of the conditioner is a really sweet scent which comes from the macadamia nut oil – a scent that I now really like. When on my hair and wet, the scent smells even better. The liquid was also really silky and smooth which gave me confidence that it would leave my hair in a better condition.

As a conditioner, this product does not lather up like a shampoo would. Instead, I smoothed it on my hair and left it for a couple of minutes before rinsing off. After rinsing, I could feel that my hair was softer and smoother than it was before using this product. Of course, I did use the matching shampoo as well so that had something to do with the condition of my hair too. Never at any point before getting out of the shower was I worried about my hair being unmanageable and knotty like it has been before with other products.

Out of the shower and after using the conditioner, I could easily brush through my hair. This is such an important thing for me as sometimes I can end up pulling large clumps of knots out and I didn’t have this at all with Aussie products. After blow drying, my hair felt (and looked) incredibly soft and it looked a lot smoother than normal. Because of this, I definitely recommend Aussie as it works so well for damaged hair like my own.

Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo

When it comes to brands of hair care, Aussie is one I have never tried before… until very recently. When my boyfriend and I stayed in Norwich for the night, I forgot to pack shampoo and conditioner so I had to head to boots to get some travel size products. The best price at that time was the Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo and Conditioner. For a full 300ml size bottle of shampoo, it will cost roughly £4.49. Boots regularly have this in their 3 for 2 offer.

My hair is extremely dry due to using too much heat on it. The Aussie Miracle Moist bottle states that this shampoo is for dry and damaged hair and also hair that is a bit unhappy – all three things describe my hair, especially the last. Using hair products that don’t agree with my hair certainly makes it very unhappy and full of knots. The bottle is white in colour with a purple lid. The front of the bottle has the Aussie name and kangaroo logo at the top in purple lettering with the name of the product underneath which is in blue lettering. There is also a small paragraph about the shampoo which explains what is in it and what it does.

As I poured the shampoo out into my hand, the light orange colour of the liquid was a nice surprise. I’m not sure what colour I was expecting but it definitely wasn’t orange. To match the sweet orange colour, there is also a lovely, sweet scent. I can’t really describe what it smells of specifically but sweet really does seem to be the best word to use. I really liked the scent of this shampoo even before it touched my hair. The liquid also felt extremely silky in my hand which was a good first impression.

Once in my hair, things only got better. I used a blob of shampoo about the size of a 50p piece and began to massage it into my scalp and the length of my hair. With the shampoo warmed up, and lathering up quickly, I loved how it felt in my hair. The bathroom was filled with the sweet scent of the shampoo, which I still couldn’t put my finger on at this point either. At this point, I began to rinse out the shampoo and it felt incredibly smooth and soft. Sometimes, my hair can feel great when rinsing the shampoo out but not afterwards. Luckily, when I got out of the shower and began to brush through my hair, it was still as soft and smooth as I had hoped.

As well as a great smell, this shampoo worked really well for my hair type. I could get a brush through what is normally a tangled, knotty mess with complete ease. Also, after blow drying, my hair looked fantastic and felt as soft as it did when wet. As a brand I hadn’t tried previously, this was a really good first impression and I was really happy with the results. Due to this, I would quite happily buy the larger sized bottles.

Schwarzkopf Gliss Liquid Silk Gloss Shampoo

When my mother in-law bought me the Schwarzkopf Gliss set for my birthday, I already had quite a few bottles of shampoos stocked up so I wasn’t really in a great need for this part of the set. However, after giving the conditioner a try, I just had to use the Schwarzkopf Gliss Liquid Silk Gloss Shampoo as well due to the great results the conditioner gave me.

The first thing that I really like about this product is the packaging. It comes in a lovely light, sugary, pink bottle which looks really girly. I’m used to Treseme bottles in my bathroom which are either black or white so pink is a nice change. The bottle has the Schwarzkopf logo right at the top with Gliss printed in large, bold letters underneath. The opening on the bottle is at the top which comes in the form of a flip top which makes it easy to get the shampoo out. The bottle also states that this is a hair repair conditioner and aimed at people with brittle or dull hair.

I have real trouble finding a great shampoo or conditioner for my hair. It is long and very fine and not in the best condition due to blow drying and straightening. Sometimes, I can barely get a brush through it after washing which is a horrible feeling. This shampoo claims that it smoothes the hair’s surface and contains proteins that are identical to the hair itself which enables it to repair from deep inside. If these things worked like they did with the conditioner, I was going to be a happy girl.

When shampooing my hair, I used a blob of the liquid roughly the size of a 50p piece. As soon as the hot water mixes in, it creates a wonderful lather so I probably could have done with using slightly less. This is one of the shampoos which actually lathers up extremely well and more than the average conditioner. It also smells fantastic both in and out of the water. The scent is soft and floral but not overpowering. While washing my hair with this shampoo, it makes my hair feel great immediately and I love how it smells.

When blow drying my hair, I could also see and feel the effects of this shampoo. For one thing, I could brush my hair through with complete ease instead of having to fight with it for a good while. Also, my hair felt smoother and in better condition as well as looking silky and shiny. It’s quite hard to believe that something could make my hair so much better only the day after using two other different products which resulted in my hair being knotty and extremely tangled.

As you can probably tell, I love this shampoo. It does everything I could possibly want it to do, it smells fantastic and it works so well with my hair. RRP is roughly £2.50 for a 250ml bottle.

L'Oreal Elvive Triple Resist Conditioner

After trying the L'Oreal Elvive Triple Resist Shampoo, I wanted to try the conditioner as well to see if it strengthened the results. The Triple Resist range from L’Oreal aims to reinforce and nourish broken or brittle hair, making it appear healthier and to help prevent breakage. For a 400ml bottle, you can expect to pay roughly £3.99 depending on where you buy the product from. When I bought my bottle, it was on offer in Wilkos for £2.99.

What I love about this range of L’Oreal is the packaging. Instead of a boring conditioner bottle, this one comes in black and bright pink. The packaging instantly stood out to me on the shelf in the shop and it is far more attractive than others I have on the shelf in my bathroom. The bottle has text giving the name of the product and what is does printed in white although some is highlighted by the pink. The bottle states that this shampoo is for fine and fragile hair and Loreal explain that ‘you put your hair through daily torture and sometimes it can lack essential nourishment. Weakened, your hair has a tendency to break and fall out.’

The opening of the bottle is at the bottom, like with most conditioners and is a pink flip cap. The cap opens really easily and the bottle only needs a gentle squeeze in order for the white conditioner to come out. The conditioner is quite thick in consistency but not so much that you cannot smooth it over your hair easily. This also has the same scent as the shampoo from the same range, which is quite floral and girly.

When applying the conditioner, I did so only to the ends and the middle of my hair. I never put conditioner on my roots as it tends to make my hair greasy and besides, this one aims to helps broken ends which is exactly what I needed. While the conditioner is quite thick, you don’t need to use too much of it. I have hair that goes half way down my back but I only used a small blob of conditioner. This means that the 400ml bottle will last quite a long time, and even longer for those with short hair.

When just using the shampoo, my hair felt great after a shower but with the addition of the matching conditioner, I couldn’t believe the results. My hair was instantly a lot softer and smoother than it would normally have been at this point, especially when wet. I could comb through my hair with complete easy and no time was spent getting those horrible knots out. After blow drying, my hair felt thicker than normal, soft and it also smelt fantastic. I love how the scent of the conditioner sticks to hair after rinsing it out and drying it. The scent also lasts really well, which is something I don’t get from many other hair products.

Combined with the shampoo, this conditioner works exceptionally well. I have noticed that my hair falls out and breaks so much less than it did before I started using these products so it’s nice to not find random hairs all over my clothes and my flat.

Schwarzkopf Gliss Liquid Silk Gloss Conditioner

My lovely mother in-law bought me a bag full of Schwarzkopf hair goodies for my birthday. Schwarzkopf Gliss isn’t a brand I had ever used before and I was looking forward to using something a bit different from what I would normally buy. The Schwarzkopf Gliss Liquid Silk Gloss Conditioner claims that it can repair hair cells to give 130% more shine.

The bottle of conditioner comes in a wonderfully girly bottle. The colour of the bottle is a light, sugary pink with a silver flip cap at the bottom which is also how the bottle stands up. The bottle has the Schwarzkopf logo right at the top with Gliss printed in large, bold letters underneath it. It also states that this is a hair repair conditioner and aimed at people with brittle or dull hair. Compared to the packaging of other hair products in my bathroom, I do like this one more. The colour is brighter, the bottle sleeker and it generally just looks nicer.

As my hair is pretty long and very fine, it doesn’t look very full or healthy most of the time. I get split ends extremely easily and blow drying and straightening doesn’t help this. I like my hair to look as nice as possible though and have been looking for a shampoo/ conditioner that makes it look healthier for a long time. This conditioner claims that it contains proteins that are identical to those in actual hair which makes it able to repair deep inside the hair. This sounded like a pretty good claim to me but was it true?

After shampooing my hair, I used a dollop of the conditioner (probably a bit more than most people would) and covered my hair with it. After leaving the conditioner on for a couple of minutes, I rinsed it out and covered my hair with a towel straight after getting out of the shower. Even before combing through my hair I could feel that my split ends were not nearly as dry as normal. Once combed through, my hair felt so much more healthy than I had been used to. The comb glided through my hair instead of me having to take a long time to get through it.

After blow drying, I could see the effects rather than just feeling them.  My hair is softer, smoother and definitely shinier after using this conditioner and it also smells really nice too. My boyfriend regularly comments on how nice my hair smells now since using this. Also, as I do have fine hair, I find some conditioners too harsh to use every single day and I generally have to change up what I use. However, this one does not weigh down my hair at all but instead, it feels soft every single day.

I absolutely love this conditioner and it is now my new favourite. A 200ml bottle of this conditioner will currently set you back £2.49 from Superdrug.

VO5 High Definition Blow Dry Lotion

Due to recently buying some new hair curlers, I also had to buy new hair products. Normally, all I use is shampoo and conditioner as my hair is straight and I never do anything with it. However, curlers can really take the life out of your hair due to the direct heat. Also, my hair is long and fine so I wanted something that had heat protection as well as giving me some volume. When I came across VO5 High Definition Blow Dry Lotion, it seemed like exactly the product I was looking for.

For a 200ml bottle of this product you can expect to pay roughly £3.70. I bought mine from Superdrug at this price although it may vary from store to store. The girl’s range of hair products from VO5 all come in bright pink packaging which I love. The pink bottle stood out to me on the shelf which is why I looked at it to begin with. The front of the bottle has the VO5 logo, name of the range which is ‘plump it up’ and other product information. The design of the bottle is quite simple in style but attractive because of the colours. The top of the bottle has a spray nozzle which is covered by a little, clear plastic cap.

VO5 give a description of this product as; ‘Hair feels thicker, with healthy looking body. This lightweight lotion gives your hair bounce while helping protect your locks against the damage caused by heat styling. Light enough to work on fine hair. It also helps detangle hair, making it easier to comb.’

This blow dry lotion should be used on towel dried hair but not when it is soaking wet. After spritzing all over, comb or brush through hair to make sure it is evenly distributed. I always find that turning my head upside down and spraying the underneath of my hair really makes a difference as I don’t feel it all gets covered otherwise. The spray doesn’t really have much of a scent to it, which is a shame, as it would have been nice to get nicer smelling hair too.

However, after spraying my hair and combing it through then blow drying, I did see a difference in my hair. As my hair is fine and long, it does look limp and lifeless sometimes and without much texture or volume. By using this product, my hair looked quite a lot thicker and much healthier. I cannot really say how well the heat defence aspect of this works though due to me using either straighteners or curlers every day as well as a hair dryer. Although my hair looked healthier after using this, I do think it was more because it was full and bouncy compared to how it normally looks.

While this is a good product, I think there may be something better out there for me. At least something similar with a nice scent to it anyway.

L'Oreal Elvive Triple Resist Shampoo

I have quite long hair that is also really thin. It has a tendency to fall out all over the place, which is really annoying. Although I wasn’t out looking for a new shampoo on the day of purchasing this product, after seeing it, I knew I had to give it a go. The product in question is the L'Oreal Elvive Triple Resist Shampoo. I bought my bottle from Wilkos, where it was on offer for £2.99 although the normal retail price is roughly £3.99 for a 400ml bottle.

The shampoo comes in a very striking black and bright pink bottle, which is why it originally caught my eye on the shelf. The bottle has text giving the name of the product and what is does printed in white although some is highlighted by the pink. The bottle states that this shampoo is for fine and fragile hair and Loreal explain that ‘you put your hair through daily torture and sometimes it can lack essential nourishment. Weakened, your hair has a tendency to break and fall out.’ The bottle has a simple flip top lid, which like most shampoos, is at the top of the bottle.

The shampoo is extremely easy to get out of the bottle if you give it a little squeeze. Out comes a thick and creamy white shampoo. I instantly noticed that this shampoo is thicker than others I have used before but not the consistency of a conditioner. As I poured out the shampoo for the first time, the wonderful scent hit me immediately. My usual Treseme shampoo doesn’t really have much of a scent to it and I was pleasantly surprised with this one. The scent is quite floral but not overpowering.

As I applied this to my hair, the scent got even stronger which is not a bad thing. The shampoo lathered up extremely easily which means you don’t need to use much at all – even on long hair like mine. Even before putting on conditioner, my hair felt extremely soft and smooth so I was already impressed with this shampoo. When it came to blow drying my hair after the shower, I could still smell the shampoo which was a major plus for me. My hair doesn’t really normally smell of anything but with this one, the scent lasts all day near enough.

After only using this for a couple of days, I could already see the results. My hair felt and looked stronger than it did before and the shampoo has also helped to minimise my hair breaking and falling out. I definitely want to try the conditioner in this range to see if that helps my hair even more. This is a shampoo that actually does what it says it will so in my eyes, worth the higher price.

Wilko Hairspray Extra Firm

After leaving all of my new hair styling products in Norfolk, I had to go out and buy some more so that I could use them with my new hair curlers in Nottingham. I didn’t want to spend a lot though, having better things back at home so I bought Wilko Hairspray Extra Firm. As this is a Wilko product, it can only be bought in store or online. For a 300ml canister, I paid 67p.

I was surprised at how nice the packaging was for this super cheap product. The hairspray comes in a wonderful metallic silver canister, with bold and bright lettering printed on the front. In large letters are the words ‘control’, ‘holds it’ and ‘extra firm’, letting you know exactly what this hair spray does. The lid is a bright orange, which matches some of the printed text. Once you pull off the lid, underneath is a bright orange top where you push a button to spray the product.

As I have tried the Sainsbury’s own brand of hairspray too, I had quite high hopes for this one, regardless of the cheap price. The hairspray is really easy to use because of the large button at the top of the canister. On first use, you do need to push down a little harder than normal as you need to break to seal. After this though, the button presses down really easily and you don’t need to use much force at all. As with all hairsprays, it is better to use in a ventilated area or large room due to the fumes it gives out. With this one, the fumes aren’t too bad at all though and it actually smells really nice.

I didn’t really want to buy extra hold hairspray but other than the more expensive brands, this was my only choice. I wish that there had been more options in regards to hold. After my hair had been curled, I sprayed this all over, as well as a little underneath my hair to make sure they would stay in place. However, as this is extra hold hairspray, it made my hair very firm and crispy in places. Luckily, my hair did not look stiff and crispy, it only felt that way. This hairspray did do its job extremely well though and kept my curls in all day.

If this products becomes available in just a firm hold, I would definitely buy it but I am just not a fan of crispy hair.

Sainsburys Hairspray – Firm Hold

After trying out my friend Laura’s Enrapture Encode Totum Styler, I decided I needed one for myself. I saw the price had dropped on Amazon to only £30 (£45 off the RRP) so bought it instantly. However, as I got one day delivery, I realised that I had no hair products whatsoever due to my having it down and straight all of the time. I quickly headed over to Sainsburys to stock up on a few things. A must have when curling hair is hairspray so this was the first on my list. I ended up getting Sainsburys Hairspray – Firm Hold as I wanted something that would hold the curls without my hair being too stiff. For a 300ml canister of this, you can expect to pay £1, both in store and online.

The canister of hairspray is quite nice looking, considering it is a Sainsburys own product. However, it isn’t one of the cheapest of Sainsburys products which are really plain and white with only orange text. The main body of this canister is a lovely dark silver colour with a purple top and cap which pulls off. The colour of the text on the body of the canister is also purple which matches the top and the cap. On the body of the canister is the Sainsburys name and the product name as well as what kind of hold it gives.

The hairspray is really easy to use. Once you pull off the cap, all you need to do is push down on the button and the spray will be released. With some really cheap hairsprays, the room can become quite full and fumes quickly, especially small rooms but that isn’t the case with this one. I used this in my bathroom, which is tiny, and while I could smell the hairspray is wasn’t too bad at all.

My hair is really fine and thin, which is why I have had such a hard time being able to curl my hair before. However, by using this along with my new curlers, the curls actually stay in my hair and as they should be. As this is a firm hold hairspray, I was slightly worried that my hair would end up stiff and not have that luxurious, bounce that curls should have. However, while my hair was a little stiffer than normal, it didn’t feel crunchy at all and it really did keep my curls in good condition.

For £1, I’m really impressed with this hairspray and probably won’t be buying anything different from now on unless there is a really good offer on.
